December 7th marks the end of the 2017 Medicare open enrollment period. The goal of open enrollment is for Medicare beneficiaries to be able to choose the best possible plan for their needs. The United States Senate has its own opportunity to help promote greater choice for older adults in Medicare by joining the House in voting to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

The Older Americans Act Finally Clears Congress

Congress finally just passed bipartisan legislation renewing the Older Americans Act for three years, sending it to President Obama for his certain signature. Passage comes almost 10 years since the Act was last reauthorized, a delay which has been a source of great consternation to older adults and their advocates. READ MORE

January 29, 2016 - NANASP signed onto a letter asking that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provide stability and security for the more than 17 million seniors who have selected a Medicare Advantage health plan. Population Health Alliance sent the letter to CMS’ Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt on Friday, January 29th. Read Letter

April 23, 2015 - NANASP and Meals on Wheels America wrote to the Senate and House Appropriations Committees on April 23, 2015 to urge them to support a funding level of $874.6 million for the OAA nutrition programs for FY 2016 as proposed in the President's budget. NANASP and MOWAA Join Forces to End Sequestration for Nutrition Programs
On Monday September 23, 2013 the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP) and Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) sent a joint letter and video to all U.S. Senators and Representatives urging them to stop sequestration for all nutrition programs in the Older Americans Act.
The video, created by NANASP Executive Director Bob Blancato and Ellie Hollander (President of MOWAA), and the letter are the latest in our joint advocacy efforts.
