National Aging Services Organizations Mark 60th Anniversary of the Older Americans Act by Calling on Congress to Protect and Increase Funding for Vital Programs July 14, 2025 – NANASP, ADvancing States, National Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels America, and USAging issued this joint statement, joining together today to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Older Americans Act (OAA). Our organizations are issuing a unified call to action, urging Congress to protect and increase funding for OAA programs that provide essential services to millions of older Americans nationwide. And calling on their supporters to participate in the coordinated day of action today by contacting their members of Congress and urging them to protect and increase OAA funding. |
NANASP has co-led successful advocacy efforts to gain more funding for important aging programs, including: In the past year, NANASP has also led a successful advocacy campaign to make the RSV vaccine available to older adults without the need to discuss it with their doctor, hosted a malnutrition learning collaborative for AAAs, participated in ACL's strategic framework for a National Plan on Aging, and given grant funding to our members for waitlists, medically tailored meals, and technology to connect with older adults. |
